13/365 - Chinese Food and Home Improvement...

Ken and made ANOTHER trip together to Satan's Warehouse to get a few things for the house. We've been talking about how we both feel like we need to hang up our sealing certificate, somewhere where we will see it a lot, to remind us of the covenants we made together. We went to Hobby Lobby for a picture frame but found a few more things, of course.

We took my dad out to dinner last night. We went to a Chinese restaurant that we all like. My mom was at a play with her friend. After dinner, we asked my dad if he would come over and hang up the stuff we bought. He was more than happy to do it. There isn't a lot of "home improvement" things my dad feel comfortable doing anymore. I knew that screwing a few screws into the wall to hang some pictures would be easy enough for him, and let him feel like we "need" his help.

This is where we decided to hang our certificate. It's in a random place, but we both will walk past it a thousand times a day.

We bought one of those floating frames. There isn't a mat, it's just glass between the edge of the certificate and the frame.

We also bought a wrought iron holder.

Volia!
Here's a picture of our little after space now. We like it.
Thank, dad, for hanging it for us!

Here is another "before" area.
It's by our front door.

We wanted to hang this.

There's my dad (and Ken) measuring the spot.

Ta-da!
One more thing to junk up the walls. Yay!!

The we ventured downstairs into Ken's office.

We asked my dad to please hang up Ken's diploma and a clock.

My dad was beginning to put the screw into the wall and I said "Maybe it needs to go a little higher, dad". His response was "My arms don't go any higher". Pre-Parkinson's Reed would have balanced on anything in sight to gain another inch on the wall. Parkinson's Reed says take it, or leave it! We'll take, thanks.

Tank supervised it all!

Done!

On to the clock.
Ken is measuring while Reed coaches from the sideline...

while Tank continues to supervise.

Done and done!

We loved taking my dad out and having him come over for some simple home stuff. I think he felt glad we used him although he left us 2 screws to use for next time. Maybe that's his way of saying "do it yourself next time because I know you two can". Who knows! As long as he's able, we'll keep asking!
