78/365 - USPS at UPS? No Way!

Last week, we mailed off a package to Ken's sister. She wanted some more wax melts for her Scentsy melter. The brand/scent she wanted isn't available where she lives. So, we got the wax and then took it all to the UPS store and mailed it. A few days later, it showed up in OUR mailbox. Why?

Yep. No postage. We paid for postage, but somehow the UPS store whose ENITRE business is based on shipping actually missed putting postage on it - after we sat there and watched them do their whole "postage routine".

We got looking closer at the envelope and the store had written "$7.35 Parcel" on the package...

...but had charged us $12.45 for the postage.

We went back to the UPS store today (thankfully I somehow STILL had the receipt) to clear it up. While we were there, we asked why we paid more for postage than the actual cost of postage. They told us that there is a "convenience markup". Huh? I am sorry but there is a $5.10 "markup" on $7.35 worth of postage. Weird.

We got our money back at the UPS store and went over to the post office to mail it for less. We learned our lesson... ship UPS from the UPS store. Ship USPS from the post office. Keep that one in mind, kids.
